An artist's village

Saint-Aubin has always been an artist’s village ! As an example, Saussemare beach was one of Georges Braque favourite painting spots. Not to mention as well René Henderycksen, who stayed in our village after World war II, and realized a new church’s stain-glassed window.

Saint-Aubin was also the favourite beach of Bourvil, the famous French actor, born a few miles away. He has enjoyed numbers of summers here and most of the inhabitants still remember him here.

Recently, Saint-Aubin sur mer has been one of the shooting places of the movie “Visages, Villages”, directed by Agnes Varda and the French artist JR. This highly recommandable movie has been nominated to the Oscars.

Saussemare beach has also been the shooting place of “Le retour du grand blond” famous French film starring Pierre Richard and Jean Rochefort.
